Surgeonfish

Surgeonfish are active during the day, eating the algae off dead corals, rocks or sediment. They also sometimes eat worms and crustaceans. Surgeonfish defend their territories against algae-eating competitors. The ‘knives’ are also used here, which spring out of grooves by a strong, lateral bend of their tail.
